Mike Stathers
Managing Director

Mike is a former award-winning journalist, having enjoyed a 20-year career in newspapers including spells as Business Editor of a leading evening newspaper and Chief Reporter and business writer of the Yorkshire Post. He joined The Public Relations Company in 1990 and led a management buy-out in 1994.

As the company's lead consultant he manages the media relations function for most of its clients, maintaining excellent contacts with local and national journalists.

He specialises in issue management – the avoidance or damage limitation of Bad News – often involving employee actions and potentially contentious planning issues.

Janet Musil
PR Consultant

Janet began her post-graduate career as a freelance copy and scriptwriter in the Midlands, working for a wide range of technical and commercial clients including major national companies. She continued her career as a London-based trade journalist before becoming a consultant with a respected PR company in the South East of England.

After moving to the Yorkshire area, Janet worked as a freelance writer for clients including the former University of Lincolnshire and Humberside. At The Public Relations Company she specialises in the management and production of specialist publications for both the internal and external markets.

Louise Hawker
Events Coordinator

Louise has been with the company for nearly 15 years and has extensive experience in the organisation and management of events of all sizes, including VIP visits, Open Days, receptions, seminars and Jobs Fairs.

Stuart Russell
Associate Consultant

Stuart’s career in the media and in public relations has spanned more than 30 years. He is one of the North’s most respected newspaper journalists, specialising in campaigns and the production of `supplements and magazines. For a while, he was a key member of the PR and Public Affairs team of one of the country’s largest shire councils.
